South Carolina attorney Mia Maness is all about providing practical, common-sense legal advice to clients to help them understand our complicated state and federal legal system.
“I see my role as a legal navigator – a translator for business people and individuals about how to solve problems in pragmatic ways,” she explained. “My firm doesn’t provide a cookie-cutter approach to law. My philosophy is to focus on doing what needs to get done to get results.”
Maness, a Phi Beta Kappa honor undergraduate and law degree recipient from the University of South Carolina, is a seasoned civil litigator who has more than 25 years of preparing cases from their investigatory stage through resolution. She excels in legal research and writing, including preparing motions and other documents that are part of the trial process.
More importantly, Maness uses her experience as a litigator and her skill set to work with clients – both plaintiffs and defendants – to craft legal strategies from discovery to mediation or trial.
At the start of her career, she clerked for a federal judge for three years – an experience she said taught her the practical application of the law she learned in school. Before embarking on her own practice, Mia Maness was partner in a Charleston defense firm and practiced with a personal injury firm for 16 years.
Maness is a member of the South Carolina Bar. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
She lives in Charleston, but travels throughout the state working with clients to resolve issues.
